About Ceretta Smith
“The seat doesn’t belong to the person who’s running for it, the seat belongs to the people. Always remember you’re elected to serve the people and not yourself.”
~ Ceretta Smith
First and foremost, I want to say thank you for electing me to serve as your Councilwoman. I truly love serving and representing this community. It is a great responsibility that I will never take lightly and I am forever grateful that you entrusted me with this honor.
While my run for Mayor did not yield the results that I’d hoped for, I strongly believe that my work in the City of Grovetown is not done. You’ve made an investment in me by sending me to the Carl Vinson Institute of Government University of Georgia where I have earned over ninety-three hours of Municipal Government training and instruction.
In addition to the Municipal training, I have a Bachelor’s Degree in the Arts, a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling, Associates Degrees in Business Management and Business Administration, I’m a Certified Myers Brigss Practitioner, a DISC Behavioral Analyst, have three years experience as an elected official and over 20 years of leadership experience.
I am still passionate about lowering the city’s millage rate, fully staffing our public safety department so that we remain a safe place to live, work, and play; bringing entertainment and fine dining to our city so we don’t have to travel to other cities, affordable housing for those in our city who are living in impoverished conditions, reducing our poverty rate, seeing more cultural and age friendly events, and starting a Youth Council. These last three years I have been an ambassador, a champion, a connector, and an advocate for the citizens, residents, and staff of the city of Grovetown, where I have served with civic pride.
I love Grovetown with all my heart and soul. Grovetown is where my husband and I made our home, raised our children, plan to make beautiful memories with our granddaughter, and live a wonderful life. I am so excited about what the next three years will bring. I hope I can count on your support to re-elect me as your Council Member and look forward to the opportunity to continue my public service.
